In conjunction with International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Society of Independent Living for Disabled Selangor, Beautiful Gate Foundation, Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall, Japan International Corporation Agency and Heap Hope Angels are co-organising an OKU International Day 2010, a 3-days event at Boulevard, Berjaya Times Square. We are also supported by China Press Daily (Chinese daily), Challenges magazine (Malaysia’s first magazine about disabled) and 988 (Chinese radio station)

There will be a convoy planned along the routes in KL city centre, exhibitions, OKU contest and celebrities performance.

We also have a special OKU Awards Presentation where this will be first ever award presentation to companies for being disabled friendly and THEY WILL BE VOTED BY YOU! In conjunction with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities we are having a 3 day event at Berjaya Times Square where there will be loads of activities and performances by artists. And of course our main event, the Convoy, where all abled and disabled participants will be going round KL town in a Marathon manner. This is an annual event where we have received tremendous response last year. So this year we are back with a bang to bring you better and bigger things!!

Dear Camper,

The time is here again for us to come together and unite to raise funds in support of the children around the world.

We’ve had a very successful camp last year with around 300 volunteers and participants and we are back to bring more Fun and Challenges while doing our part for the children. Those who have participated in our activities would know very well that our programs are simply fantastic and everyone will have a good splendid time.

This year we are targeting 200 participants.

为孩子打造无贫城市, Light Up Their Life !

当国家经济起飞之际，国内的大小城市也将开始蓬勃发展。这是自然的进化，也是国家迈入城市化发展的必经之路。
不同国家有不同的城市发展进度，但是约90%发展中国家的人民和政府都尚未准备好迎接这突然激增的都市人口，这些激增的人口多数来自国内其他地区的外坡移民。其后果是高达30-40%的亚洲都市人口居住在贫民窟，当中有40%的居民生存于贫穷底线之下。

城市贫民拥有多种面貌。虽然城市生活让他们有机会找到比较高薪酬的工作，但收入仍然是不够用于支付生活所需的。城市贫民面临着许多生活挑战，例如：

• 不稳定的收入
• 缺乏途径取得便宜的基本设施、社会福利及服务
• 权利受剥夺
• 微弱的社会影响力

基于多数的城市贫民都无法从事粮食生产的工作，2008年所掀起的全球粮食危机持续效应更大大地削减了他们找寻生计的能力。

意识到城市贫民所面临的困境，马来西亚世界宣明会决意将2010年的饥饿30主题着重在“城市贫民”的课题上。

我们的标语是“为孩子打造无贫城市，Light Up Their Life!”。在这五光十色的城市中，活在黑暗的人们正期盼着一线曙光，让我们：

• 了解 : 了解更多全球性议题
• 宣扬 : 将信息传出去！
• 募款 : 筹集善款，给不幸族群带来希望
• 带领 : 接下领导棒，筹划饥饿30营，启发更多的人
